    This is one of the variants of the fly that we published in the 2nd part of Fly Fishing and Tying Flies, which was many years ago, and this fly still works and is indispensable for me. My friends improved it mainly by adding a purple collar behind the head. This combination of colors then became irresistible to fish, hence its name. We tested it in Scandinavia, Slovakia, Austria, Slovenia, Ukraine, and Russia. It worked almost everywhere, great, I would just say that for pure alpine rivers it is often too striking, and there are many flies I prefer for those waters. For larger fish, I use hooks BL134 or BL144, and for the finest fishing with thin line, I use our top jig hooks BL164, which in small sizes can handle even fish over 50 cm. I use this fly not only for catching salmonids but also for other species that can be caught on the fly. It is very effective in less clear or even murky water.
