Many years ago, flies started being weighted using tungsten weights. At first, in the form of small round beads in many colors. Later, it turned out that for some cases we needed more weight, but not a larger head. The Heavy Body weight shape was ideal. The part that protruded from the body attracted fish with its color, while the rest of it was hidden inside the fly's body. This way, we got flies with greater mass and a different movement in the water column.

I immediately tied small flies with high mass and went out to test them by going out with friends who didn’t know about this new "weapon." I let them go ahead, and as the third fisherman in the line, I caught much more fish in the same spot. This was because I was able to get even very small flies quickly to the bottom in the deeper parts of the river.

We now very much enjoy using this type of fly, especially on deep rivers and particularly where fishing is only allowed with one fly.
