First, the story of how I "met CDC." It was almost 50 years ago when Peter Vrablec, an incredible expert on feathers and other materials even back then, came to Moravia for a "seminar" to introduce us primarily to the use of feathers, and one of the topics was CDC feathers, which were unknown to us at the time. Since then, this feather has become one of the most important materials for fly tying.

I first saw these V-winged mayflies on one of our most famous anglers, Slávek Svoboda, many years ago. In the version shown in the picture, they are among the most effective dry flies I know. There are many color variations, but in this version, they are among the most effective. Whenever mayflies appear above the water, I use these patterns. They have been used in Slovenia, on the San River in Poland, in Sweden, Mongolia, and in many rivers in the Czech Republic, and these flies have never disappointed. You just need to choose the right size and body color.
